Great read! Fascinating info about the role of African slaves during the American Revolution and immediately after. Period paintings and documents add interest, and relatively short but captivating chapters are kid-friendly. Nice back matter, too -- index, timeline, a resource guide that even includes "places to visit".
This would be a wonderful non-fiction companion to Laurie Halse Anderson's Chains.
