This is a powerful book about a topic I know very little about. The illustrations are so intriguing -- combine photos, newspaper clippings, collage. The text is written in free verse poems; the poetry and illustrations work together beautifully.
We're excited about all the new informational books for kids that will be published in 2011 and we look foward to highlighting some of the best here. Children's librarians at the Allen County Public Library sometimes receive Advance Reading Copies and other free books from a variety of publishers. After reading, some of these books find their way onto this blog before being added to the permanent Library collection or given as gifts to the participants in our book programs.
