I really enjoyed this biography of Mark Twain. Kerley does a wonderful job providing brief facts in the main text and adding to them and expanding upon them using the excerpts from Susy's diary. The illustrations are beautiful and children will love open the diary pages to see what Susy has written. Kerley has included an author's note about both Twain and Susy. I found the page on how to write an extraordinary to be an excellent source for information on how to write a biography. The timeline on the endpage in also an excellent source of information on Mark Twain's life. As a children's librarian who is often at a loss when looking for biographies for the younger children, this book is an excellent resource that I would include in my collection and recommend to teachers.
