I've found I.N.K. to be a helpful source for learning about the newest and best nonfiction books for kids. Plus, it's interesting to get an inside look at the process of researching and writing nonfiction from authors like Steve Jenkins and Kathleen Krull (you'll have to visit the blog to find out who else is writing there).
In addition to keeping us up to date on all kinds of Children's Book Biz News, Anastasia Suen also blogs about the Picture Book of the Day and hosts Nonfiction Mondays, a gathering of blog posts about...you guessed it...nonfiction. It's a great opportunity to start your week with facts first and find out what others have to say about the nonfiction books they've been reading and writing.
