Welcome to the ACPL Mock Sibert blog!
We're excited about all the new informational books for kids that will be published in 2011 and we look foward to highlighting some of the best here. We hope you'll join the discussion by leaving comments on the titles we post. If you'd like to suggest a title for our list, simply leave a comment or send us an email.
In January of 2012, we'll get together in person to talk about our favorites and vote for our Mock Sibert Award winners. Watch for details to be published later this year.

Jenkins and Page have come up with a really unique title that will stir childrens' curiosity. The illustrations are fantastic and the information is delivered in short, attentiong holding bites. The idea of symbiosis is introduced in an easy way to grasp, "sometimes animals form surprising partnerships" for children. I particularly liked to way it is tied together at the end, with the final entry being about humans and dogs, a relationship that most children are familiar with. The end notes give more in depth information about symbiosis and also give information about the size, habitat and diet of the animals mentioned in the book. There is also a list of resources to learn more about symbiosis. Overall, ans impressive addition to any children's nonfiction collection.
