Welcome to the ACPL Mock Sibert blog!
We're excited about all the new informational books for kids that will be published in 2011 and we look foward to highlighting some of the best here. We hope you'll join the discussion by leaving comments on the titles we post. If you'd like to suggest a title for our list, simply leave a comment or send us an email.
In January of 2012, we'll get together in person to talk about our favorites and vote for our Mock Sibert Award winners. Watch for details to be published later this year.

I liked this book, especially Carrilho's unique illustrations and the voice that Jonah Winter gives the narrator. Reading it to myself, I felt like a long-time Dodger fan was telling me the story. The note at the back about the subjective nature of baseball statistics was also interesting and appropriate.
This book definitely gets the award for best cover. I was reading it at my desk, and it seemed like half the kids who approached said something about the holographic cover. The muddy faces of the baseball players are a little less cool, but they are definitely striking. The story is easy to read, and baseball fans will appreciate the added statistics.
