I loved the pictures in the book and some of the language is fun and flowery, but I did have a few problems with it. We never learn what sickness Anette Kellerman had, in fact, I had to flip around a few pages to even discover that she had something wrong with her at all. I also felt like it crammed a little too much information into a short book. It either needed to elaborate more on the information given or leave things out to accomodate the simple narrative. I'm not horribly familiar with the Sibert awards, but feel like the few confusions I came across might not make it up to par with past winners.
I liked this as a picture book-style biography. I like the colors and the patterns, and it piqued my interest in learning more about Annette Kellerman. Probably not my pick for Mock Sibert, but definitely one to know about.
